Here are my tips on where you’ll gain the most value when updating.

As people have been spending unprecedented amounts of time at home these days, I’ve been asked multiple times about which home improvements will get you the biggest bang for your buck.

As you’ll have learned if you’ve watched a lot of HGTV, the kitchen and bathrooms are the two most important spaces to improve to get the most money from your home sale. What should you be doing to improve these areas?

“Most buyers won’t know the difference, so why spend the money on expensive items?”

To boost your kitchen’s value, install granite countertops, tile flooring, and soft-close drawers. However, there are certain things that homeowners are inclined to add that they don’t need to spend their money on, like travertine tile and third-tier granite. Most buyers won’t know the difference, so why spend the money on expensive items like those?

Similarly, putting in new windows is a good idea, but you don’t need to go as far as triple-pane windows. You can add extra insulation if you want to use energy efficiency as a selling point, but it won’t necessarily add any extra value.
