Why both buyers and sellers want to avoid dealing with FSBO properties.
Have you ever wanted to buy a for-sale-by-owner (FSBO) home? If you have or have considered selling your own home without an agent, remember that there are plenty of reasons why most people list with a Realtor. Let’s talk about those reasons and why buying a FSBO might not be the best idea:
1. You may not get to do an inspection. If you’re buying a FSBO, there’s a good chance they might not let you do inspections, which are important because they help you find out what might be wrong with a property.
“You want your closing to be final, not the start of years worth of problems.”
2. It can be emotional for the seller. When you point out problems with their home, the seller can get emotional, which can hurt your transaction. Instead of being all about the deal, it might become personal and more of a battle than it has to be.
3. You don’t have an agent who’s looking out for your interests. If you’re selling your home by yourself, having an agent’s experience would help you navigate the process.
4. It will cost you money regardless. Whether you use an attorney or an agent, there will be costs involved with selling your home. You should hire someone who will keep your best interests in mind and keep the process from getting drawn out. You want your closing moment to be a happy end to the process, not the start of years worth of problems.
